Hybrid CMS / Landing Pages

TDX (previously TransDiesel) are a major supplier and servicing company to the construction, forestry, marine and mining industries. With a large portfolio of brands and clients, the business is complex and wide-ranging.

We created a new future ready web platform, consolidating a number of sites into one property along with developing an online store, integrating new features and continuing to support TDX's evolving digital presence.

The brief

Develop an e-commerce store, recalibrate all existing content and add support for all business areas into one platform.

Provide granular editability, integrate with numerous APIs and deploy with SEO optimisation front-of-mind.

The brief: 2022

Support the roll-out of a major brand repositioning, apply a new identity, related resources and new functionality to the existing platform.

Design

Less design. Let the content do the talking.

A large site with a number of high priority areas lent towards a design that is clean, structured with layered navigation and a flexible container-based layout.

This approach allowed for flexibility across areas of the site where the content varies. Plus a flexible grid layout linked into the CMS enables areas in-page which can be visual, textual or both- creating a granular level of control from page to page depending on the need.

When it came to mobile design we took a task based approach. Given the customer profile, what is a user most likely to want from our client if they are on a smartphone, versus sitting at a pc?

Development

Starting with legacy migration and mutli-site consolidation we then commenced greenfields dev for new features and the e-commerce suite.

An extremely technical build this case study can only hint at the scope of development behind this project.

We approached the development in a logical way- key principles established from answering the brief in initial meetings led to foundation work with the existing database.

From there an agile approach ensued as we worked closely with client-side project leads and biz devs.
This incremental dev cycle ensured our solution answered the business rules and processes were run end-to-end eliminating the need for extended unit testing at the end of the initial project build.

API Integrations

Building a modern site with expansive functionality required a number of integrations with internal and external data sources.

Additionally our extensive knowledge of the business structure having worked with the client since 2010 ensured we approached this new build well prepared and acutely aware of the nuances we'd need to code for, especially with several of the following services being new to the client.

Dynamics AX

Google Product Manager / Shop

Stripe Payment Gateway

Address Lookup API

Future

The new platform, a solid working relationship and a shared desire to continue developing and extending the website.

A site is never finished. The TDX project was, on going live- merely a baseline position from which future possibilities for their digital prescence will be based around.

Pixlbox is pleased to engage on an ongoing basis with clients post-live. As well as ensuring uptime and monitoring performance we enjoy being involved in a proactive support capacity going forward with TDX.
